Uncharted Power is a power access company that works towards transforming untouched spaces beneath the ground into smart, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure for renewable energy access and internet of things opportunities. The firm is piloting a paver system along our sidewalks that transmits power and stores sensors for data collection. Through in-depth background research, we identified a design opportunity for Uncharted Power: to better track, monitor, and display the health and data of their panels. So how might we effectively communicate system status, alerts, and collected data to a variety of users in Uncharted Power? And how might we imagine applications for their technology through our designs? Our design process consisted of doing background research and competitive analysis, conducting interviews, brainstorming, creating prototypes, and carrying out user testing. Ultimately, we finalised our solution of a responsive dashboard that visualises and communicates system health and sensor data for Uncharted Power’s paver system.
